How to handle cravings with PCOS
If your cravings feel stronger than other people's, you are not weak, and it is not just in your head. PCOS can genuinely make cravings tougher, mostly because of how your blood sugar and hormones behave. The answer is not more willpower. It is understanding the trigger and having a simple plan.

Why cravings hit harder with PCOS
When you have insulin resistance, your blood sugar tends to swing up and then crash. That crash is your body shouting for quick sugar, which is why you suddenly want a biscuit, chocolate or namkeen, often around 4 or 5 pm. PCOS and insulin resistance
So many cravings are not really about hunger or discipline. They are a blood sugar signal. Once you steady the blood sugar, the cravings quieten down on their own.
The CurviCare pause and check
Before you reach for a snack, pause and ask yourself three quick questions.
- Am I actually hungry, or just tired or stressed? If it is tiredness or stress, food will not fix it. A short walk, water, or a break often will.
- Did I eat enough protein today? Low-protein days lead straight to evening cravings. If protein was missing, that is your real problem.
- When did I last eat a proper meal? If you have been skipping or under-eating, your body is simply asking for fuel. Eat a real meal, not a quick sugar hit.
This ten-second check breaks the automatic reach for sugar, and usually points you to the real fix.
Practical ways to reduce cravings
- Eat protein at every meal. This is the biggest craving reducer. High-protein Indian foods
- Do not skip meals. Skipping usually leads to a crash later.
- Keep a smart snack ready so a craving does not force a bad choice. An easy evening snack
- Have your chai with something protein-rich, not just biscuits, so it does not spike and crash you.
- Sleep matters. Poor sleep increases cravings the next day.
Be kind, not strict
One important thing: guilt makes cravings worse, not better. If you eat a sweet, enjoy it, move on, and get back to your normal plate at the next meal. The all-or-nothing cycle, where one biscuit becomes a whole packet because you have already "ruined" the day, does far more damage than the biscuit ever could.
What you can do today
- Add protein to your breakfast and lunch so your afternoon is steadier.
- When a craving hits, run the pause and check before you eat.
- Prepare one healthy snack in advance for your usual craving time.
When to see a doctor. If you feel out of control around food, or eating is causing you real distress, please talk to a doctor or a qualified professional. That is a caring step, and support genuinely helps.
